I know that you should not shoot standard 30-06 in an M1 due tot he pressures. Being bolt action is there any type of restriction for the 1903\1917s?
The 30-06 Springfield for the M1 is not cheap. Any links to good deals would be appreciated as well.

Presuming the '03 and '17 are in good mechanical condition, they will be fine with any properly manufactured commercial 30-06 ammunition.
Many would make an exception for "low number" '03s with the single heat treated actions. Many of these are brittle and it is often recommended that they not be shot with full power loads if at all. Others say it's ok. I'm in the middle and am using mine with cast bullet low pressure loads only. No problem with the double heat treated or nickel steel actions.
What would a low number be considered? My gun is in the shootable range, so low numbered int hat range?Quote:

I've been reloading everything for my shooting except .22. I just can't buy factory at the prices they want. You can't get in ankle deep though. Get the whole kit and get to work. Then you can tailor your ammo to your needs.

My friends 460 Weatherby Mag has a diet of 500 grain Woodlieghs at $3/AU per projectile, I brought 4 kilo container of ADI 2206H @ 5 months ago and that was $400.00/AU and that stings a bit plus I use RE-22 in my 6.5/284 and that's $58/AU for 454 grams so we are all getting it in the neck the only ones making dosh are the powder suppliers..........still I love shooting
Those powder prices are disgraceful, Hogdgon powder Co. Has a tremendous amount of powder made in your country then imported to the U.S. I pay $160 for 8 lb (3.6 kilo.) of H4350 and I believe it's made in Australia. The Reloader rifle powder line would be the same price.Quote:

No just a Govt that is trying its hardest to hobble shooters anyway they can and if not by legislation then through the wallet, in my state because we are often referred to as the "Wait Awhile State" due to out geographical location to the rest of the country a fair whack of stuff gets landed on the East coast and then has to either be railed or sent across by Semi trailers hence the cost has to go somewhere. More commercial gun powder is probably made in your country the the USA. Just about all of the Hodgdon powders and some IMR powders are made by ADI in St. Mary's near Western Sidney. I just checked all my Hogdgon powders some 12 year old and all were made in Australia. My RL 22 was made in Sweden, the only powder I have that's made in the US is Bullseye. 4 different IMR powders I have were made in Canada.
If ADI make it then they sure as hell are not helping those of us that shoot mind you they have just done battle for the ADF (Australian Defense Force) contract I mean that is like Winchester winning the powder contract for the US Army so why would they care about us shooters!!!!!!!
