New member & new purchase

Hello,
I'd like to introduce myself to the forum and to hopefully get some information regarding a 1903 rifle I purchased last weekend. After doing some research on the rifle I found the following:
Receiver serial number:3236478
Built by Remington. Number appears to coincide with a September 1942 build date.
Barrel markings: 12-43 with the flaming bomb symbol.
Stock appears to be a scant stock. Left side shows RIA enclosed in a rectangle.
Initials:FK (Frank krack?)
Proof mark on the bottom side of the stock.
I'm unsure if this is a correct combination stock, barrel and receiver. Anyone able to help? I'll post pictures shortly

Does the barrel have 2 grooves or 4 grooves?

The barrel was installed post-military and is a later M1903A3. The military used M1903 barrels for M1903s. The stock is a replacement. FK = Frank Krack, who was the chief of small arms inspection at Rock Island from 1941 to early 1946.

I would say they did a darn good job putting a 1903 front and rear sight on an A3 barrel.

I was also going to question the barrel being a 03A3. They still did make 03's in 12-42.

The barrel is dated 12-43........NOT 12-42

Definitely a put-together. The barrel was installed by a former civilian owner. The military didn't "mix" barrels for 03s and 03A3s.

Shooter class only.

Thank you for all the info guys. And I appreciate the welcome. I wish I could post on here more, work and a new house are taking up all my time. It's a sweet shooting rifle, made the fiance cry though... She didn't hold it tight into her shoulder when she shot it.
