I picked up a bayonet "carcass" at a flea market ($20USD) in overall poor condition: Slightly bent blade, missing grips and fasteners, no scabbard.
I would like to restore it as much as may be possible or practical.
Could someone please direct me to a source for the grips and fasteners?
Reproduction parts are perfectly OK for my purposes as well as used parts in serviceable/repairable condition. My Google-foo not strong.

Ebay is your friend. I have one of those nasty $20 temtations. Never got real far with it. Post photos maybe you'll inspire me. My wood and screws are fine, it's the metal that really stinks. Bad grinding, ton of pitting.
Good luck finding a set of those. They'll be scarce and expensive in any shape...

Just keep checking ebay, they will show up.
To be honest, that's not that hard. The outside figure is the hardest, you'd end up with smooth scales. The bolts would be harder to replicate.Quote:

Grip screws and nuts! Turn them up on a lathe in 15 minutes. Grips easy to make.

Matter of fact, I had a type 99 bayonet here that wasn't bad but had no grip scales. I roughed them out of walnut (I don't think they ever did) and used screw rod to hold them on. Then cleaned them down by hand until they were correct looking...ended up being a decent job. Owner was very happy...Quote:
