That Drill Instructor looks like 'Jane Hathaway' from the Beverly Hillbillies (CORRECTION:real name Nancy Kulp, NOT JANE KULP) Thanks Mr E Moose
Who served in the US Naval Reserves during WWII, reaching the rank of lieutenant, junior grade, and received several decorations while in the service, including the American Campaign Medal. She was honorably discharged from the Reserve in 1946.

The gal on her right is not too shabby either. Nancy Kulp was also extremely left leaning. She even ran for political office. However Buddy Ebsen (Jed Clampett) from Beverly Hillbilly fame was extreme right wing. Made for some interesting arguments on and off the set.
Nancy Kulp and Buddy Ebsen starred together for nine seasons on The Beverly Hillbillies, one of the most popular sitcoms in television history. From 1962 to 1971 Kulp played prim bank secretary Miss Jane Hathaway. Ebsen played the patriarch of the oil-rich, unsophisticated Clampett clan. In 1984 Kulp, a Democrat, decided to run for Congress in her home state of Pennsylvania. She attempted to unseat popular 12-year Republican incumbent Bud Shuster in the state's 9th District. During the campaign, Kulp made an offhand remark that all the surviving cast members from The Beverly Hillbillies were supporting her. Ebsen, a lifelong Republican, wanted to set the record straight: He dispatched a note to Kulp from his California home. It read, "Hey Nancy, I love you dearly, but you’re too liberal for me. I’ve got to go with Bud Shuster." The rift between the two actors was further exacerbated when Ebsen did a radio spot for Shuster in which he reiterated his objections to Kulp's liberal politics. Kulp believed Ebsen's intrusion into Pennsylvania politics was "cruel." Embittered, she terminated their friendship. On election day Shuster soundly trounced Kulp by about a 2:1 margin. Apparently Kulp and Ebsen only reconciled shortly before Kulp's death from cancer in 1991.
Wow, I voted for Bud Shuster and have very vague recollections of that election that I had forgotten all about. I was a college Senior at the time.

Kulp said of Ebsen, "He's not the kindly old Jed Clampett that you saw on the show... It's none of his business and he should have stayed out of it." She said Ebsen and she "didn't get along because I found him difficult to work with. But I never would have done something like this to him."
Well I suppose that well endowed lady would always be "A breast" of situations they may face.

Buddy Ebsen(CG LT, XO of a frigate and taught USN officer candidates how to sail before that) was a big time Hollywood name long before the Hillbillies came along. Kulp was not.
There was a female Corporal in the Regm't who filled her uniform like that. Heard a story where the Col. asked her on a parade what was in the pockets of her combat shirt. She supposedly said, "Me. Sir."
As a kid I saw Buddy Epsen star with Shirly Temple in the 1936 flim Captain January. He was a great song and dance guy. Like most men of the era, he went into the Coast Guard in 1941. He l;ived to be 95 years old.

Kulp was wrong is stating all the Beverly Hilbillies actors supported her. Then she gets upset when he set the record straight. Like most politicians of any party, they try and find someone else to blame.
She might have liked being in the above picture, in later life she came out as a lesbian.

Buddy Epsen could sure 'Cut a Rug' when he wanted to.
Even playing Uncle Jed, he had that Sharp Country wit being able to read people. He often reminded me of many of my elderly relations from the south that were 'Sharp' and keen with so many tricks to things. People you weren't going to fool with double talk.
My Wife and Sister loved the Shirley Temple reruns. My brother and I would search for army movies, westerns and Godzilla movies.
But all stop when My Father had to watch Bob Hope, Red Skelton or Archie Bunker !!
Good Memories...... Sure Miss those simpler times.
