I bought this lot of Chests this afternoon as part of the Poulin's auction of the Bob Faris collection.
One of the chests matches a rifle I bought last April.
Let me know if you purchased a T or L42 in the April or October auctions and I'll work to see if I've got your transit chest.

As far as what they're worth, I don't know. The one which goes with my LB T was worth an awful lot to me. But at the end of the day, I just want to make the money back.

So, your the one of the guys that out bid me!! (I was out bid early) I hung around for an extra 2 hours to get these as I thought they would go "cheap" as shipping would be considerable. For those interested here are the s/n on the chests I recorded, not all had rifle information on them. FYI, the Canadian chest was in great shape with the exception of the handles, glad you reunited.

An international consortium (myself from Canada and an American collector ;-) were after this “sleeper” lot of transit chests - 6 L42A1, 5 British No.15 Mk.I, 1 Canadian No.15 Mk. I and 1 Canadian Chest for the C No.7 22” MK.I.
Having bought a Long Branch sniper rifle (80L8006) from Poulin’s in the Spring of 2017, I was hoping that the Canadian Chest was numbered to it but even if not, it would still be correct as the chests were usually assigned and marked temporarily. I had also recently given up the Canadian Chest No.15 Mk.I that had come with my matching 90Lxxxx sniper as part of a deal to get a rare C No.67 Mk.I Sniper Scope which was correct for 80L8006. The experimental R.E.L. Gimbal 3.5X Sniper Scope and bracket that came on 80L8006 from Poulin’s has moved over to my experimental Long Branch Scout Sniper’s Rifle. At least it is good to know that the Canadian chest is rejoining it’s Long Branch sniper rifle. To the new owner - the Canadian leather handles differ slightly from the British made examples. They are folded the same but then are stitched along both edges.
I had to type this message twice. While typing the first draft (which got lost) the ferry crew advised that there was a small pod of Killer Whales (Orcas) that we would be passing. This is the first time in 40 years of travelling on B.C. Ferries that I have seen Killer Whales. Naturally on this trip I did not have my usual Nikon Camera with zoom lens. I felt like a sniper with a target of opportunity at 300 yards and only having a handgun (iPhone in this case)!
If available, I'd be interested in one of the British chests.

According to the original files of the Faris collection the following rifles were with transit chests:
LB No. 4 T, 1944, #68L3246 (mismatching chest)
BSA No. 4 T, 1945, #T39788 (with transit chest No. 15)
BSA No. 4 T, 1945, #V38773 (with matching numbers chest and canvas case)
BSA No. 4 T, 1945, #T32281 (with transit chest and telescope case)
Maltby L42A1, 1977, #M8824 (with chest)
Long Branch .22 No. 4 Mk.I*, Toolroom sample (with unnumbered early Long Branch Chest)
There might be transit chests with other rifles too, but this is what I was able to find. If any from the above matches any of the chests and had not yet been sold, they might come up for auction in the future.
Edit: were the L42A1 rifles sold with the metal scope cans? I've found a small list of scope cans from the Faris collection too. Not sure if they sold them with the rifles or if a batch of metal scope cans will be put up for sale in the next auction...
Edit2: Colin, was your CNo.67 sniper with scope mount or scope? I've just noticed a spare No. 67 bracket too, might also turn up for sale.
Edit3: Faris collection included L42A1 #T32281, #G33072 (converted No. 4 Mk.I(T)), #50L0027 (again converted No.4 Mk.I(T)), #U36397, #M8824, #G22742. With the No. 4 T's it included #A0827, #13C7446, #68L3246, #90L8217, #T39788, #V38773, #E35678, #80L8006 (with the No. 67 scope), #02911 (Indian rework), #AT0291 (7.62mm rework), #V38563, #A0919. Is any of those serial numbers matching to either of your chests?
Have the odds and ends of WWI scopes and mounts come up for auction yet?
"Promo" - Thank you for the heads-up. My C No. 67 Mk. I scope does not have a bracket .... yet. The Long Branch No. 4 Mk. I*(T) rifle that I bought at Poulin's in the Spring of 2017 has the correct mount (attached to the body). That rifle came with a scope described as a No. 67 but in fact it is a prototype of the C No.32 Mk. 4 (C No. 67 Mk. I) scope called the R.E.L. Gimbal 3.5X. That was in a bracket on 80L8006. That bracket was numbered to Long Branch experimental Scout Sniper Rifle SN ASC-85-3 and I have Scout Sniper's Rifle ASC-85-4, so naturally the scope has moved over to that rifle. There were only 10 (ten) of those rifles made in the ASC serial number series. I recently acquired a C No. 67 Mk. I scope thanks to a lead and lobbying by "stencollector". I still need the bracket to mate 80L8006 with the C No. 67 Mk. I scope and also another mount to use on the Scout Sniper's Rifle so that I can mount the Gimbal scope. That rifle has one of the eBay Italian made mounts on it temporarily which has different dimensions and does not appear to be a copy of any Canadian mount.

Chests have arrived.
I'll take a good look at them tomorrow and publish serial numbers as best I can make out and otherwise post photos of interest to the group.

No distinguishing marks easily seen on this one.
This chest seem to be a later production version- the label on the interior lid is dated 1975, all the others say 1971. The foam is also somewhat different on this example- it's slightly more coarse and seems to have a little less give than the others. And lastly, the handles are a painted canvas sort of material which seem much sturdier.
** NOTE- This Chest was sold to a Board Member this afternoon.

Interesting box which was painted a bright blue at one point. The Interior is missing the label and one of the wooden restraining portions is cracked in two.
One sticker clearly shows the rifle serial number as T32629.
Another sticker on the lid is painted over and shows the same rifle serial number and also shows a sight serial number- very hard to discern what it is- I think the serial number is 3 digits but might be 4. I think I can make out '260'.

A somewhat sad box with interesting barely visible markings and a curious 'modifcation' to the interior label.
T box#2 Bare wood top-
Really nice box with a replacement unpainted lid.
The leather attachments which connect the chest to the lid are present but were not connected when the lid was replaced.
The number stenciled onto the front and back seem to read- 5885.
T Box#3 Interarm USA
Paint applied by Interarm has been greatly damaged by the heat.
Interior of the chest is very nice despite the damage to the paint.
I'd be interested in the background of Interarm and their sales of 4T's
T Box#4 Plain Green box.
Quaint job of mending one of the carry handles and some numbers stenciled onto the box ends but not easily read- you could probably convince yourself that it was the serial number for the T you have which needs a chest.

I bought a chest from you and there was an issue with it. You have not returned my pm or emails.
As I remember it, all of the cases had one issue or another . They were not perfect . I was at the auction and bid on them as well . Be sure if you buy any that you can return them at the sellers cost . or have the seller refund you a discount on the sale price .
When I imported many No.4Mk.1T and L42A1 rifles back in the late 90's and early 2000's, there were lots of issues with the chests that had been protecting the old girls for decades. I just repaired the chests in need before I resold them. I still have some spare replacement wood pieces that I made. I even had some of the sheet metal corners for the L42 chests made by a local sheet metal guy that were perfect. No big deal.
The serial numebered magazine for L42A1 T32281 has turned up. I do not know who got the rifle from the Bob Faris collection.
The magazine is presently on rifle AT0291, a mismatched 1943 BSA originally fitted with scope 4226 and presently fitted with scope 21094 on bracket AT2734 renumbered to D37789. This rifle was in the ob Faris collection which can explain the magazine mix-up. It was item 211 on Ian Skennerton's CD-ROM about Bob Faris' collection. The seller on Gunbroker 2018 AUGUST 31 is Ohio Ordnance Works Inc. of Chardon, OH 44024 Gunbroker auction Item 784080840.
It the owner of L42A1 T32281 sees this posting, I suggest that they contact the seller to try to arrange an exchange of magazines. AT0291 is described as 7.62 but I wonder if it is still in .303 but with a 7.62mm magazine fitted. An ejector screw is still fitted in the body.
