Pic of my latest acquisitions. I am going to keep the two MKIIIs, two MKIIs, the .280 Ross, Scoped M1910, the rest I am going to put on gunbroker.
I am very please with the barrels and bores. Amazing for 100+ years old, barrels with shiny and great rifling! These are going to be awesome shooters.
That's a bit of a mother lode. Very, very nice.
A hoard like that NEVER becomes available in the sunny north! Nice catch.
I've been cleaning today and again, I can't be more pleased on the condition of the rifles. All the barrels look fantastic, I was worried they might be destroyed from corrosive ammunition. So far so good. They are getting a deep cleaning and I am learning more about MKIIIs I've attached three pics of the rifles I've started to clean. The M10 had an odd proof mark. "Not English Make" :lol: I am assuming the RCA stamp on the wood - Royal Canadian Artillery?
I'd have a hard time breaking up that clutch. It would take some time to sort for me. Some nice ones there.

From what's been recorded so far, 22 was the shortest factory barrel offered, along with 24 and 26 inches. Mine has been clipped and from how short it is now, it was probably 22 as well.
Yup, I got the e-mail. The E-1910 has the roughest stock of all my rifles. I still haven’t cleaned it yet. I planned on soaking the barrel and action it in my solvent tank and giving it a thorough cleaning.
I just disassembled my 1916 MKIII Ross and I noticed a greenish/yellow coating under the wood. What is it? It comes off with a bronze brush and CLP. The bluing underneath looks great. Should I leave it?
If it looks like it might have been consistently applied, and some time ago, I would leave it as it may be factory grease. Bottom line in conservation is do as little as possible. We've all crossed that line in our enthusiasm at times, and some of us have regretted it later.Quote:

Which of the MkIIIs is drilled and tapped?
the E-10 was tapped, as is the MKIII conversion which has a cut down barrel and a cheap scope. All the rest are good.Quote:
