Well in addition to the No4 Mk1 (T) project, I have acquired a 1916 LSA Mk3 (Sporterized) off of GB. It will need some work, but it appears to have the original bolt, barrel and rear windage adjustable sight.
On the other hand I think it's supposed to have volley sights and a magazine cut off installed. I already have a forward handguard, noseguard and hardware, and rear sight protector for it.
I'm curious to hear your impressions. :)
She looks a nice rifle, & the work is all doable. You might find it costs you though. The forends are generally quite expensive when they do turn up. Is the sporterised forend on the rifle actually machined for volley sights?
Here is a picture of the left side. I was (assuming) since it is a III and not a III* it might have had volley sights originally? My past experience with these older rifles is the family heirloom No2.
I have a bunch of front and rear handguards, rear sights, nose caps, some barrels and other goodies, so maybe I can trade someone out for a nice forend.
Well, if you're going to restore it as far as possible to how it would have been before its present woodwork was chopped about, you don't need to worry about volley sights. The shallow 'dished' area between the rear sight bed & the barrel band is where the front volley sight plate would have been, had your rifle been fitted with volleys.
I too recently restored an LSA 1916 No III. Since 1916 was the year a lot of the features on early SMLEs changed I put on a nose cap with stacking swivel, an early type rear sight protector, and a cutoff. I thought about putting a windage adjusment rear sight, but then saw that the original serial number is on the non windage sight on the sporter, so didn't add that. I didn't consider volley sights as I think they wouldn't have appeared on a 1916 rifle. Anyway, here is the result.

After looking at the website, putting on a full set from Prestigious would make it look awesome.
I've got a pile of noseguards, etc to dig through to find the best one. The crazy thing is in the pile of parts I have is the barrel that is three serial numbers older than this rifle!
I guess I won't bother with the volley sights, but I will install a cut off.
Prestigious woodstocks look like a very useful outfit, and they ask:

My 1916 LSA restoration was also a full new reproduction stock set, although not from Prestige, made using the same technique. The results were very pleasing. It takes more work inletting and bedding than a No4, specifically to get the nose cap to fit properly, and to get the correct bed on the draws, with no gaps. To get a good finish I had to sand and apply boiled linseed oil many times. A very enjoyable project though.

Got a shipment notification already! I emailed them a question about how the wood is shaped around the mag cut off. About 20 minutes later, I had a picture that answered my question. Pretty impressed so far.
