My store got a few toys in and we are trying to figure out some information about them and their markings! We are cleaning some of them and helping to restore as well. Any and all info would be amazing!

There are two threads on the MG08 on the forum. Reading them might give you the answers or where to look.
Yep and it did answer a few of my questions but now im more focused in the painted covers and what they mean. Im trying to get a history of them.Quote:

603 G (b?) doesn't appear in the war trophies list. It may have been brought back after the war, or by returning officers for a particular regiment's collection.
Post up the other serial numbers and we'll see what can be found.
Don't recognize the "CAG" monogram; the Adjutant General's department isn't known for battlefield captures. ;)
I a manager at a military surplus store in Edmonton. We were asked by a museum to help restore and sell some.
