I've had a vented gas plug for several years now. Recently I ordered the 'ported' plug from GarandGear. I'm happy with the ported plug. Part of me wants to rig a strain gauge somehow and use my PressureTrace to watch what's happening with the 'ported' vs. vented gas plug in some recent handloads I made with Lapua D-46s over AA-4350, but I don't think I'm going to do that. The data on the GarandGear website addresses enough of a range of factory ammo that I'm not terribly concerned about the rifle with these handloads. I _am_ a bit concerned about my shoulder, as it is not what it was since I hurt it, but that's another matter. :-)
I just picked up one of the GarandGear plugs myself. It seems to do the trick just fine!
