OK... CZ858 and VZ 58's are M14x1 RH.
Anyone... CF armourers..... MAg 58 thread pitch for flash hider???????
I'll check and get back to you all...
Thanks gunasauras... here is what I found out...
A buddy contacted FN Herstal-USA (FNH-USA) about the M240 GPMG threads and received this reply today.
Quote:
M240 Barrel thread pitch is English non-standard. The call out is (25/32) 0.7812-24 UNS-3A Special. So while the pitch is a standard 24 threads per inch, the diameter is non-standard.
I hope this helps!

The term "Special" may mean that either the major diameter or the root diameter or both have been modified from what you might calculate for a normal 24 TPI thread.
it's difficult to tell as only a professional knows this type of specifications.
but will get back to u wid these soon..
The obvious answer would be that the major diameter is non-standard, or am I missing something? Just about all non-metric firearms threads are "special", much to our consternation!
I think it would be simpler to rethread than that worry about a difference.
I needed to make an adapter... it worked...

Looks first class:super:
Oh, yeah! Done similar once or twice. Its threading non-standard I.D. threads where the fun starts. Can't use thread mic's, so its either fit by trial (w/o removing the new part from the lathe!) or fab'ing some test plugs beforehand and hoping theory matdhes reality.
Nice rifles, by the way. More accurate than your average ak/sks (plenty more than a mini30), more ergonomic, and lighter to boot! Just need a "tacticool" optics mount here in the US. Ciphered on making one but haven't taken the plunge.
I dont know how "tacticool" this is... but this is what I made to go on it....

I did much the same thing with mine. SVD mount with a red dot.
Didn't even think about a side mount! I was thinking of some lightweight business to hang around the rear sight block runnng forward to the gas block. One end or the other would have to allow for heat expansion of the barrel to avoid zero shifts as things warmed up. (Had that happen on a Kreb's custom AK which was sold fairly quickly!)
Main problem w/ that sort of mounting is that there's very little excess meat on a VZ58 into which things can attached. Very minimalist weapon!
