Just recently picked up a Finnish capture Mosin sniper. (Will post pics as soon as I can) Was wondering if anyone has any info on this variant. It lacks the mount and scope, but I plan on getting a setup for it as soon as I can.
Any help would be welcomed.

Is this a 91/30 rifle?
Does it have a scope?
Finland did capture a lot of true Soviet snipers, used some, but primarily de-snipered them after the war. As far as I know, no rifles were exported from Finland in sniper configuration with scopes. Some folks have re-snipered Finn captured snipers, but I think most Finn captured snipers were PEMs.
Also, IO made a bunch of snipers with real or repro Soviet scopes out of M39 rifles. Century made some PE/PU snipers out of Finn 91/30 rifles that came out of Finland in the 90's before there were any rifles coming out of Ukraine.
Not trying to rain on your parade. I personally shy away from Mosin snipers due to the high percentage of fakes out there and the high cost.
PE, PEM or PU?
It's pretty well know that only six PU rifles are recorded in Finn records so they would bring $2k~$3K or more.

That is my plan if I can track down original parts. I see too many of the repro scopes and brackets out of the Ukraine lately. A sniper bolt is the easy part. Those can be made from an original bolt. An original Finn Capture SA marked scope and mount will truly be difiicult. If anyone has any leads on them, please let me know.Quote:

Its a Tula marked sniper rifle.
It has a Westinghouse force matched E bolt
The buttplate has a a similar marked E on it as well, so I'm not sure if it a Westinghouse as well.
It also has the HV marked jamb free magazine.
Overall excellent condition.

Got this one from a guy from Finland who did a lot of importing, it's came as you seeit less the scope and had the base and original bolt.

A few months ago, I purchased a mirror image of that gun, CH marked, double SA and a "C" on the receiver, D on the barrel 41 on the side and purely Tula from top to bottom, I got it right from a local importer, although it lacks the import stamp. The barrel was drilled and tapped for the PE, I looked at it under the stereo scope and the bluing was in the hole (I got $25 off for the holes, new guy at the counter). I filled the holes with an accumount repro PE, until I can find the real deal. I'll be using it as a shooter, because I JUST DON'T KNOW THE HISTORY. Looks very very cool-SDH

Sorry it took so long to get these pics up, my son is going into the service on the 29th and we're going to have a little party for him on Sunday and its taking a little more prep work than planned. A good possibility of over a hundred folk, Lord give me strength!
As you see the mount and glass are fill in's. I'm looking for the right stuff now, but, this may take awhile. There is a double SA proof, a 1938 Tula production gun thats been correctly Finned, there are a few stock markings that I've never seen before one being a set of concentric circles and the other what looks like an S in an oval with something else I can't quite make out even under 25X. There is a small "C" under the mount and the mount is "Not" pinned on. No import marks, Dragoon bands? The rifling in the barrel is mint and no counterbore. I am going to shoot it to sight it in then leave it be until I get the right glass, Cheers-SDH:D
I know a guy who just bought an original scope and bracket for $1300 so it won't be cheap. When you get there I would be interested in your old scope and bracket or even just the scope. The center rifle is an original Yugo I would put it on.

I'll keep that in mind my friend, it would be a great marriage! If you'd like a new knock off, accumount carries many different configurations. The screws are the wrong style and the bases are pinned, but, otherwise pretty good representative items. I figured I'd be paying pretty large for that scope and mount, but, I think its a good investment, cheers-SDH

Keep an eye on Ebay and traders on the various sites. It takes a while and isn't cheap, but you can find original scopes and mounts, but will probably have to use a repro base...Good hunting!;)
Well, finally got my bolt handle back from BOLTMAN, and I must say he did a fantastic job. I had him use the original bold know so that it is numbered to the rifle. Would love to find an original scope/mount setup, but just may settle for a repro just to get her up and running.

Good luck. I have a 1933 Finn 91/30 regular issue for sale on another board and it's a great shooter after the Finn's worked it over with sights, wood and trigger work. So you have a good base to work from.
