Just as a reference, they run right around $50 in the US. Sometimes more. A GOOD buy here would be picking up good serviceable mags ( with finish wear, slight rust) for $35 US.
Some accessories for the grease gun are starting to become difficult to find, the early magazine loader for the M3 and the plastic magazine cover are some examples. Finding magazine pouches that are marked for the M3 are also kind of rare.
I often heard the one flaw of the M3 design was the magazineAttachment 97777Attachment 97776Attachment 97775
I have to admit the the mags I'm after are not for an M3 but for something I'm working on as I needed .45 mags and chose them as the look very similar to the Sten mag but obviously bigger to take the .45.
I do have the M3 hand book I picked up at the War and Peace show, it details the wooden training aid, I've seen one somewhere in the past but where I don't remember.
Not quite BR, but a certain rifle we know of, comes in metric and inches.......
Love to see after the re-configuration...even if you gotta PM me. Love a new idea, it gives me something to feed off during the dark season.
Straight pull, SA or FA? Suppressed? Still cool if not.
It wouldn’t be hard to do. But a Mk5 Sterling in .45 ACP seems better and even easier to do.
I’ve never really understood why Sterling didn’t go with .45 ACP for the Mk5. The British army had Thompsons in WW2. Ammo wasn’t an issue. It’s subsonic. Worked great in the De Lisle. Almost twice the bullet weight. That’s a lot more wallop for a round that’s moving at the same speed.
A copy of the Mk7 Sterling was made by P.A.W.S. in .45 ACP. It uses M3 mags.
Agreed on all points Vincent...would like to wring one out.
try zib militara
Some pics of the PAWS ZX7 (Sterling Mk7 copy)
It uses modified M3 mags. I will probably fix it so they don’t need the mod. They still work in the M3 but they feel loose and rattle.
As you can see, it doesn’t have sights. One technique that works fairly well is to point with your index finger where you want the rounds to go and work the trigger with your middle finger. I have big hands and it can be a bit of problem. I think I am going to convert it to a .45 ACP Mk5 Sterling copy.

sometimes I wish I was in "da soud"...
Oh! That's exactly what I am thinking about doing. Guess I could send it to John and have him do it.
I see people on GB all the time mistaking Sten mags for M3 mags. They look very similar, until you see them side by side.

Stemple converts the S&W 76 and copies (9mm) into Stemple 45's quite a bit. I think they use M3 mags for the conversion, but not 100% sure. Don't have one in front of me at the moment.
As mentioned when referring to Thompson mags, I would think making a copy of the Sterling mag follower would NOT be that hard and they should work just right in a Thompson double feed mag, not so much in the M3 Grease gun mag.

Worldwide Arms has them currently for £16
Are you referring to the roller follower? They have tapered rollers sitting at an angle to the feed, then the follower is at an angle to the spring guide...good luck capturing all that. I have never had any trouble with Thompson mags as they are, matter of fact no problems with grease gun mags either.
Yeah, the real grease gun mags work fine, as long as they are clean. The Cobray .45 ACP magazines can have feeding issues. After a while the presentation angle becomes too high and they need a little tweaking.
