I am trying to get more info on my Sharps carbine so far i know it is a 52 cal with a serial number c, 13984 it has patent date of Feb 15 1869 under flip up sight, Sept 12 1848 on the ring side, toward the back of the base of the hammer Oct 5 1832 and on the side plate at the top of the hammer RS Lawrence but dat almost unreadable. The carbine is a center fire. any other info and where i might be able to get an original bullet or 2 would be great

Cartridge collector shows usually yield some. Gun shows usually have a few cartridge collectors too. Originals will cost decent money so be prepared to pay.

I have some early black powder cartridges from the post 1865 time period. I am not familiar with a 52 cal Sharps center fire but there are a number of 56 rimfire cartridges used by Spencer

Also common to convert the Sharps to either 50-70 Govt or 45-70 Govt too

i have had it check by a couple of gunsmiths and they have told me the same thing it is a 52-70 center fire

A great many Sharps carbines were converted to .50-70 after the war. The barrel is the clue - does yours have three broad lands and grooves of approximately equal width?

Hi,

I don't know if you have this info or not, but according to the SRS, your Sharp's c13984 was most likely with the 7th Voluntary Indiana Cavalry, Co "M" or "E"!
Number c13983 was with Co M and Number c13985 was in Co E.
