Here's another rarity, JCG's Primer Actuated rifle. It was in contention until about 1926 when it reached a dead end because of Pederson's .276 beauty and the adoption of crimped-in primers that didn't move. This one came out of the Bainbridge Naval Museum when they closed in the late 1970s and sold off the collection.

I'm told you can shoot it semi-auto with NM ammo, the primers aren't crimped.

As a point of interest, it has oil pads to lubricate the ammo, a common device to ease the extraction problems of the day... until Garand's T3, all the submissions pulled the casing straight back, often ripping off the end or breaking the extractor. Pederson solved it by waxing the ammo, but JCG's .276 rifle used a turning bolt which essentially "unscrewed" the casing. When FA made the .276 ammo for the 1931 tests they made two lots, one "Lubricated" for the Pederson, the other not lubricated for the Garand.
