    1906 Springfield 1903 pickup

Was at a gunshow this weekend and saw this sat on a table. It was a little rough (pictures are post cleanup) but the price was right. Thought I would post some pics for everyone to see.

Nice. Nice and old and low number. Is the bore rough too? Not that it really matters. Nice piece.
    Regards, Jim

What made it so cheap was the rust you can see on the front band and barrel. The bore had a lot of blue rust. I gauged the crown and and looked at the bore and it was rough but had plenty of rifling. I made the call the blue rust was fouling and used it to negotiate. Wish I had taken a picture. The only issue with the old girl is the safety not engaging cause of a worn firing pin rod.

shooting very low number 1903 rifles

I have used the 30-06 chamber adopters to fire 32 S&W long & short and 32 ACP in early low serial numbered 1903 rifles. Perfect for indoor or at a pistol range and very quiet outside.

Went out and shot the rifle at 50 yds after I got the bore in nice shape. Shoots straight as a die. There are still decent bargains out there under $400. Sometimes they may look a little rough.

Very nice. I have two 1906 models myself. Love the early rifles.
