Need advice on cleaning Du/Lite finish
I need advice on cleaning the Du\Lite finish on a pistol without damaging the finish. It has some minor rust spots and one small area of browning and would like to know if there is a way to remove it without removing the Du\Lite finish. I thought about trying Kroil or mineral spirits. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Kroil and a Big Frontier cleaning pad will work for minor surface rust. I have used the combo on several occasions with good results. Dont get carried away and be gentle.

4/0 steel wool and any good gun oil is as good as you can do. Just don't get overly aggressive with anything you use, as anything from your hand to a soft cloth will eventually wear the blue. Also don't believe any wild tales about the steel wool becoming embedded in the metal, causing further rust. Virtually every Luger from 1900 to 1937 was rust blued, and the rusting process was removed with either steel wool or soft wire wheels, and they don't break out in rust from the steel wool.

there is a very fine polishing compound called pre lim that brownells sell`s that work`s good with a q tip .and yes like Johnny said about the steel wool you work slow with it . I have had good luck cleaning brown spot`s off parked and blue gun`s , they also are the makers of the renaissancens wax .
