Unfired? That's just wrong.
That whole BCG had to have come out of a 1960s rifle.
It is a ChiCom copy that isn't even marked Colt. The slots on the turret cap and w&e knobs on a Colt are relieved to one side as can be seen in the photos above so they may be turned with a cartridge...
They lied.
Here's the PS page:

Thanks to this month's smallarmsoftheworld.com/archive I know a little more about the mystery BFA. In a document entitled M16 — Overhead presentation from January 1971 "Doing More With Less", I found...
Oops. That was supposed to be in reply to LeagleEagle.
Nice, but you should replace that Fulton Armory stock.
It's because you're in California.
Bullet Drop Compensator.
This may be worth getting:
Big Hole Upper Receiver, Assembly (b) | Daniel Defense
No, those are Colt's in-house model numbers.
Assume it's 5.56 (that's what the barrel says, right?), which means you can shoot anything you like, 5.56 or .223. You can also shoot 55 gr. or 62 gr. bullets in it.
I don't really know how...
There's no difference. Not with Colt product, anyway. AR-15A2 Sporters came with the exact same barrel Colt was putting on M16A2s at the time. The barrel is marked C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 so there's no...
Yes. Likely 1985-86.
Slickside= no forward assist (or brass deflector). AR-15A2 Sporter IIs came in three variants, all with the A1 rear sight: no forward assist, forward assist alone, and forward assist plus deflector....
No. If you see one that does, it's because someone swapped them to get the A1 look.
So, does yours have the slickside upper receiver, the forward assist upper, or the forward assist and brass...

I used to do this. I don't recommend it. There's no way to keep the nut tight unless you want to risk Loctiting it. If you don't have an A1 upper yet, I'd suggest looking for an SP1 upper on...
That was quick. Thanks. I'm surprised to see that it looks as though nothing was done to prevent the automatic sear being replaced unless the pin is bigger than it looks. A few years ago a fellow...
I wouldn't make too much of the 9 being a little off. It seems to be common with numbers that are stamped — no reason to think it was added.
I'm intrigued and a bit envious that you can own...
From the way the port cover sticks out at an angle there is no doubt that it has the partial fence lower.
Be a hoot if there are more of them left in Australia than the US.
What I've been able to learn so far is that it was the original BFA design, replaced by the M15 series because it could be shot loose. My guess is that most were destroyed. What's aggravating is that...
