Having pondered the idea of scoping one of my Milsurps, due to failing eyesight, I have decided to scope one of my Enfields.
My Mausers would need drilling and tapping, or else, a "Scout" mount. I...
What a nice rifle. The letter just ads that much more.
Thanks for the info and input. Sorry for taking so long to reply but I'm busy with a disabled relative most of the time and don't get to be here as often as I would like. I really enjoy this site and...
I do not want to commit blasphemy here, as this is a Milsurp site, and every long gun I own is in original military configuration. However, my Son-in-Law , knowing my affinity for Mausers, decided to...
LOL! Didn't think about fun...BUT! when you approach 60 years old...have a bad back...and can't RUN very fast, you find the QUICKEST solution possible.

I've used a spray can of upholstery glue I got at a casket factory to take care of wasps. It has a wide spray pattern and instantly glues the to the nest or gums them up where they can't fly....
Yeah, I had "held" several P-38's , but never fired one.
THANKS to YOU, and several other members here, I was able to go to the Web sites, and figure out what this thing was...
I'm a bolt action...
Thanks to the info/links that members replied, I have pretty much figured out what I have.
The only thing missing is the frame manufacture date.
As stated in the first post, it looks like it was...
Thanks for all of the info/links
The "non hex" is what had me puzzled. I had thought that after '61 it was standard. After looking at online sales, and offerings, I've seen '71 and later models offered without the upgrade.
They were still making Walthers in '81???

Thanks again. Mail sent.
Makes sense. Thanks!
Don't want to keep beating a dead horse, as I have already posted several threads on the SAMCO Mauser finds, but I took the 1st two I purchased for more shooting today, and noticed some...
7mm does seem to shoot straight...
Was at one of the shops I visit yesterday. The owner brought out a K31 that he had traded for. It looked un-issued. When I asked him about the name tag under the butt plate it was news to him. We...
This is the 2nd Spanish 1916 I picked up last week. 7MM. It cleaned up nicer than the first one I bought. I thought I had an issue in that it would not fire. After taking the bolt apart again and...
I took it completely apart when I brought it home. Had to, just to get all of the cosmoline off/out of it.
Never would have believed "crud" would have caused this problem.
As stated above, cleaned the bolt out, re-assembled.
Managed to pull 2 Sellier & Bellot rounds, and BOTH primers fired.
Taking...
Yeah, that was my intention. I was going to pull a surplus round, but I can't find my bullet puller.

Picked up another nice 1916 in 7mm. Head space checked out fine. Went to test it out and it snaps, but doesn't fire. Of 5 rounds, there was no mark whatsoever on the primer.
Came home and took the...
Other than Vet "bring backs" why would a surplus rifle lack any import stamps?
I have 2 Arisakas that I'm certain were "brought back" because I got them from a friends Grandfather who was in the...
Interesting. Never heard of this phenomenon. What I do know, is that "rain" never helped the various Whitetails and coyotes I encountered in 40+ years of hunting here in N. Alabama!
Often using an...
