Good shooting and a nice rifle. It looks all correct. A piece of history.
Very well stated and my thoughts exactly. Just someone using available stamps to make a extra dollar. Shame to as the rifle is forever tainted now with the faked stamps.
I have couple original spare M1 magazine for sale.
If it was me I would run back and put a down payment on the rifle. I just sold the same rifle with a later dated barrel for 1100.00. But it did have a marked M2 magazine.
emmagge1917 I am sorry. I had a senior moment and misread the M-58 as M-65.
I have both the M-65 and M-58 rifles in my collection.
Thanks again. Others I am sure was not aware of this valuable...
Please explain your referances for this. Also don't understant that the MC-58 serial number starts at 6000.
Frank
No disrepect and don't want to start a fire fight here. But without proof I for one will just concider it as a nice story. I have in the past posted this story and links to the rifle posted on other...
I for one never understood the idea (story) of suppressed H&R 65's for rat control. Who was they trying to suppress the noice from? The rats?
You have a very desireable rifle and quit collectable. Valued at 250.00 plus to Military 22 Trainer or Mossberg collectors.
There is quit a following over on the rimfirecentral.com forums under...
In the 4th picture you can read most of the United States on the reciever. Nothing was mentioned about US Proofs.
The rifle is a WW11 Lend-Lease to England. The British Proofs are installed after...
I assume that is United States Property on the reciever and barrel with the serial number.
If so it's a Lend-Lease to Britian during WW11. There was 42,000 rifles supplied. Your serial number in the...
They are very good rifles for the price. But just as good as a Springfield 1922? Yes if you concider a Chevy Corvett as good as a Chevy Corvair. But for 400.00 or so it is one great rifle and 1/3...
If your 1922 is unaltered you have a very desireable rifle.
If the rifle action is marked just Model 1922 and no "M2" or "M1 or M11" then you have the orginal Model 1922.
There was only about 2020...
Hi Pete and welcome. You will find this forum interesting at times. I sent you the 2 Mossbergs earlier this summer.
I have a complete correct Lyman rear sight for sale.
Will send you a PM.
Contact clipgrip@aol.com Dave should have them. 269-962-0214
Welcome. The rear sight is a Lyman 48C. There are two types of Lyman 48C as there is a short base and a long base. You need the long base Lyman 48C type to be proper.
I had a 1922 rifle with the...
The Palma was the top of the line followed by the International and then followed by the Olympic.
But all three sights are better than needed for normal shooting. I think the Palma was the only...
A set of Redfields front and rear. It came orginially with a Redfield Olympic front and a Redfield Palma rear. But a Palma, International, or Olympic rear all fit the base.
CMP still had all the...
That was a steal on that complete sight. Easly worth 100.00 plus. Nice find.
The rear sight from the picture looks correct fom the angle of the picture. But post more pictures to be sure. The aperature should be no problem as it is a common size thread. The correct Stvens...
If the question is "has this M1922 M2 been rearsenaled" then in my mind yes it has been rearsenaled because it was made as a 1922M1. It was later converted to a 1922M11 at the Springfield Armory....
"no riflings" something wrong here. All the Mossberg 44US where made rifled.
The rear sight you can use either a S100 or S130 Mossberg sight. They will cost about 75.00.
Jump on it right now. I have one for sale for 600.00 firm. Good luck.
Thanks for the pictures. Those are some nice old classic rifles. And if I convert the exchange rate correctly some of the prices are real fair. They wouldn't last long at a gunshow here in the USA....
