It's right... Looks good.
So... Is it still in Belgium? Just curious how it got back to the US. If it is back in the US it's a truly rare bird indeed! Because as we all know, EVERY Garand that came back the traditional way...
While its true that "parts" for a full-auto are legal to own and it's also true that you can't make an M1A full auto simply by trying to put those parts in it, I can tell you from personal experience...
Tankers are cool little Garands but can suffer from any of the problems listed above. Don't be dis-heartened. The guys are giving you mostly worst case scenarios in the interest of "no surprises"....
Actually, if he's selling full-auto parts along with the rifle they could be used in, the BATFE might not look too favorably at that.
Yes, it's my understanding there are some 50's Garands that are unmolested. I like to think mine is one of them but who knows. I would never presume so. I know it's at least not in it's original...
I guess I should clarify Bill... EVERY Garand that was returned to the US by the Military after WWII was stripped down and and then rebuilt using whatever parts were serviceable, no matter the...
Best part about the Garand... THE SCOPE IS ON BACKWARD!!!
I don't have an accurate feel for the market anymore because of so many CMP Garands being sold lately but $1600 seems high to me too. The barrel/receiver match and WWII provenance are helpful. If you...
The barrel is the original barrel to the receiver. It's marked: SA F6535448 3 55 A219A. There are other marks including an upside down P and T. There's also the same DoD Eagle with 3stars in a small...
The front hand guard front ferrule becomes tight around the barrel as it slides down. It goes all the way down so there is a slight amount of space between it and the gas cylinder, but it's pretty...
I have an aftermarket stock set that came with my 1955 Garand. I assume it's new production. It has no markings and is very nice Walnut. I noticed when I disassemble the rifle that the front...
Unfortunately, with something that's not serialized (and even some things that are), eventually it may become impossible to tell a fake from the real thing. I've been around things like high-dollar...
OK, So from what I understand an "Original" NM Garand could be built on a WWII Receiver. I read in a recent Rifleman Article: "Type 2 National Match rifles can, conceivably, have receivers predating...
Yes, the drawing number on the bolt is 6528287-SA and the heat lot is J-1-A. Thanks again!
Well, thanks... (I think). I like the "nothing special" comment. No offense but I'm well aware of how rare it is to find such a clean example of a Springfield Garand that's this "correct". Granted, I...

Well, I got the pictures taken this morning but I didn't have the time to get them posted before work. Hopefully tonight.
Thanks again,
John
I've probably owned no less than 50 M1 Garands over the last twenty to thirty years. I guess I've always been lucky in that I would buy a Garand at a local Gun Shop or Pawn Shop or have someone offer...
Hey Guys!
I just got a really nice Late Springfield Garand #5851XXX and was wondering about the markings on the trigger group parts. I haven't even inspected it closely yet because I'm at work and...
You better send that defective Garand to me so I can dispose of it properly:D
Seriously, I've never seen that happen either... And I'm pretty sure I've removed the trigger like that too.
That's a Helluva Great job you did there!
