I recently received a striped receiver from CMP, and with a barrel I got from DGR and other parts was able to assemble this M1. (gunsmith mounted the barrel for me).

The Germans did have a habit of over engineering things. The King Tiger was designed for the Russian plains not the towns of France.

I am not an expert but its looks to me like the "v" is what is left of the "X" the the russians stamped on all there captures, as far as the SN it should be the same as the SN on the barrel.

The Army had to withdraw them they looked to much like Germans. I wonder if there is a back room in a wharehouse some where with boxes of them.

My receiver just arrived, the finish is color is OD green like, no pitting what so ever looks like it just out of the factory. I am very pleased. It should make a nice shooter.

The SA receiver I order on 8 July was shipped today its a grade B 3538xxx Mar 45. I will post pics when it arrives. All my spare pieces parts will final have a home.
