Yes NZ issue, the sale mark is expected on these early NZ hookies it was applied when sold to NZ so is not really "sold out of Service" as people think when thinking SoS

Its very likely there will be an overlap of serial numbers MkIII vs MkIII* as they would not have been assembled in a single file production line.

Nothing wrong with fitting a Indian made cutoff, i wouldn't hesitate fitting one myself, you can always change it out later

The LES III sight is for MkVI ammo not MkVII, the LES is for the Mk1 SMLE (MkVI) LES III the III is not marked directly after the LES & is for MkVI, the LES2 is for all SMLEs sighted for MkVII, if...

That does not really fit with examples seen, they are nearly all inventory number over 05 with a small number with the inventory number over numbers in the mid/high 20s what happened to all the 01,...

LSA didn't switch to the MkIII* until 1918 prior to that they were still producing the MkIII with the cutoff.
