Never heard such prices. My references are completed listings on US ebay and only rare USMC marked belts reach 200$ there. A sound WWII US army belt can be bough about 50-60$.

If your belt has light alloy buckle, it's a late WWII sample. If brass, korean war.
Tghe cgt belt is a good WWII sample but it was repaired. The original male buckle was made out of light alloy as the female one. Being quite brittle it broken and was replaced with a WWI one made out...
It's not completely exact. The gunner had to use one of his pouch for the leather box containing spares and tools ( so only 6 mags available) and the 1st assistant wore a gunner belt plus two...
Well, the belt in the first pic is a WWI sample retrrofitted in 1942 (most by Avery) to M1937 style i.e. butt cup and Colt mag pouch removed and belt replaced with a pistol belt size one more...
Nice rig! I can add only that the pistol belt is the so called NCO belt because NCOs were authorized to carry the sabre just only during parades but not the M1902 just the previous one (maybe 1895?)...
As collector I dislike repos but I'm incline to buy "private purchases" of the period. I got my lefty 1912 from Turnerriver (a notorious Miami collector) and it seem old enough to be from WWI era or...
Indeed Govt never ordered southpaw holsters for the 1911 but just revolver holsters pre and during WWI. The only one left hand M1912 I ever saw I got on ebay and it's obviously a private purchase...
This Boyt is late WWI production i.e. 1918
Hey Harlan, did you notice that the fat guy in the second pic is carrying a garand ctg belt plus a garand bayonet on the haversack but he's armed with a folding stock carbine? Moreover his leggings...
Always I say that best source for the serious reenactor are period pics. Also for the haircut.
Well, usually rounded or pointed flap is a choice of maunfacturer and it doesn't mean nothing peculiar. It's very strange that Avery modification didn't include the replacement of the butt cup with a...
That pouch is a meat can pouch to be strapped to the M1923 haversck. Both rangers have no haversack so they hanged it on the pistol belt.
Never say never. I agree. As regards the so called 1st assistant belt, I've learned of its no-exsistance from the late Carter Rila, the grandad of all US militaria collector passed away a couiple of...
That's an old tale about 1st assistant. Actually 1st assistant belt doesn't exsist (nobody ever saw a belt marked this way) cause the man wore the gunner belt. 1st assistant was armed only with a...
Not only it looks like the old M1917 but actually a lot of Kellys was made converting WWI surplus. Mine for instance is a WWI shell ZJ213 steel batch Note the hex nut tipical of converted M17s and...
Yes, it is. Rimmed snap first appeared in 1914.
Well, when you post some web or leather gear you have always to post also pics of ALL markings you can detect. Judging by eye what do you have is:
- An M1912 pistol belt datable 1918 (being khaki...
I know just this notorius pic pic from Signal Corps in Italy. This ranger used to be quite informal with uncle Sam stuff. As far as I saw in period pics, in ETO GIs got the 30rds mag ammo bag a la...
No doubt: Sovietic lend lease. You was lucky that some unscrupoluos seller didn't stamp a big US on the back as he did with mine. All pistol holsters, belts and tommygun pouches you see in mint...
Yes, Limey is 90% right, but I think the real reason for having added the snap on 1918 mounted belts is just to avoid separate lines of production for the mag pouch. They made zillion of them and to...
Just to have some reference pic. This is my WWI BAR stuff. Gunner belt, 2nd assistant belt and bandoleers (left&right). Mags are belgian postwar (I couldn't find originals).
Note that most of gunner...
Dont you worry with OD7 colour. If the buckle is made out webbed light alloy it's a genuine WWII period. If buckle is made ou brass 99% it's a korean era. Very few M1923 ctg belts from WWII show...
Nice collection and excellent pics. As told you can find several kind of M8 converted to M8A1. The story is well illustrated in Gary Cunningham article
