I am bedding a sporterized German 98 with its original barrel (built in 1943). I would like to hear from folks with experience bedding 98s with military barrels.
Did you get your best accuracy...
Interesting. Thanks.
Anyone run into the safety made by Walter Lodewick of Portland Oregon? I am wondering about fit, finish, and durability.
I am thinking about a scope safety for my 1903a3.
Here is the link to...
Yes, Havlin has said they have a mag for my rifle...I am sure it is the one you have.
At this juncture, I am still interested in what the original magazine was like.
Roy
Think the difference is 44US versus other 44 variations?
Roy
My TG issues have been solved by m1903rifle. Thanks for the nice TG,
Roy
Hey,
Thanks. That sure sounds more like a target/trainer magazine than one designed as a sporter.
Roy
I own a 44US and a Mossburg 140-B. The 140 seems to be a sporting version of the 44US action.
One messy thing has lead to another, and I have ended up with just one magazine between the two...
Well, I am in the market for one...and, will probably buy off the Internet...based on just a description and a pic or two.
Do the originals have any stamped letters, or anything like that?
Here...
Is there some reasonably reliable way to spot a used repro versus used original milled 1903 trigger guard?
Thanks,
Roy
I just found Post #28, which sounds pretty convincing...all started out grey.
WW II Parkerizing - Page 2 - M14 Forum
Another question, please.
Everyone seems to be doing a gray Parkerizing. Some think, age and oils end up with that moving to the green one sees on the A3 action. Is that right? If not, how does...
Thanks, guys. I have a much better picture of the options, and the whole operation.
Roy
Thanks. The reaction of the old park was what I was really wondering about.
While I have you on the line, what media does one use to blast, in this application? I read others refer to it as "bead...
I have a sporterized A3 action with original Parkerization; it is screwed onto a new in-the-white barrel. I want to Park the barrel. What are my options other than: (1) blast off the old Park and...
Yes, that is what I plan. But, I would like to narrow the field to ammo which others have found accurate in the A3.
I'll certainly give the Hornaday a test drive. Thanks,
Roy
Is there any factory ammo using those bullets?
Roy
Why do you mention that?
To what pressure was military 30-06 loaded?
Roy
I have a little-used 1943 03A3. I understand the most-accurate ammo is somewhat rifle-specific. I would like to try a couple different loads, but not a dozen.
So, I would like to hear from folks,...
Well, I have not fired it yet. I want to check the headspace before I do.
The bolt cycles correctly, but the loose/rattle just doesn't seem right.
Roy
Hi,
I bought a used blued R-marked bolt for my A3. The extractor feels really loose; if you shake the bolt, the extractor rattles. And, the extractor looks a little bent (pointing to bent spot...
