Just an update...life and all that have got in the way a bit with the production of the drawings for the scope mounts, but I'm happy to say that I'm back on task, and well on the way to finishing up...
I just filled a brass No.4 butt plate down to suit the profile of the No4 Mk1 I'm building. The brass is soft and easy to grind, file and linish to a profile to suit
Aussie I've posted up some drawings if you want to try to make up a set.

Guys I've taken the detailed photos that TerryLee posted up. I've converted them into some autoCAD drawings and inturn printed out them as a PDF for anybody who wishes to use them.

So the 'middle' piece that holds the bayonet sits only at the top? Is there a blocking piece in the slot to keep it at the top of the crate?

Lance mine is Q^P 48, interesting that yours is quite a long way off that number...and still an '06 Sparkie, makes me wonder how the numbering process worked.
Gents I have a 1906 SMLE (No1) Mk1* it is stamped BSA Co. - Sparkbrook. According to Skennerton, there were no rifles manufactured at Sparkbrook that year (he says although some are known to exist)...
I'm currently embarking on making up some NOS sets, I'd be interested to know the demand, and how many I should be getting manufactured from my drawings.
