    Difference

On riot guns the barrel markings are stacked from the receiver forward.

On trench guns the markings are on both sides of the barrel so they can be seen with the heatshield installed.
  2. not so

I can't recall the exact details right now, but the commercials with the brass buttplates were a special run made up for a prison system. There was a pic of one posted on the other forum long ago....

No, they are NOT military. They made commercial trench guns, or someone may have taken standard M97 riot guns and added the adaptors. Probably no way to know for sure.

In that serial range, and from that prior owner, I am going to say these are probably post WWII commercial trench guns. After some dopey flatfoot starts waving the gun around with a mounted bayonet,...

Yes, you are quite correct about the barrel attachment. It should have the take down attachment on the barrel and tube. This is a total butcher job. It is not worth anything IMHO, and is very unsafe...

Oh by the way the stock is a modern replacement. Guns in the 51k serial range always had a commercial cut checkered stock.

The stock has been refinished without removing it from the gun. You can clearly see that the center section is lighter than the ends. Someone may have steamed out some dents. Some folks back in the...

From the pictures, it does appear to have the RLB and bomb on the receiver, that part is correct.
The United States Property markings on the receiver actually look like the correct style of...

OK, I will tell you what I KNOW:
In the 51xxx range, it could very well be a Military long barrel gun. It CAN NOT be a trench gun. They are in a small defined range and we have all the records to...
  11. If you look closely at the pic of the full gun,...

If you look closely at the pic of the full gun, you can see where the finish is darker towards the buttplate. That is very typical of a refinished stock.
OTOH if you look at the fit to the receiver,...

First of all, play GI manual of arms with a 97 and you will need a stock.

That stock appears to me to be refinished, and they did not cut the buttplate to match. This is very common, and KILLS the...

The handguard is not right, the guard has been replaced and the lug looks like it was poorly refinished. The small parts that should be blued are not, so someone has messed with the gun. However, the...

If that gun is an original Parked M12, it is probably real. I have seen several marked exactly like that, and all were mint and original.

    Serial Numbers

I had a trench in the 936000 range which had a GHD stock, US and no bomb on receiver, and 6 row unmarked handguard. This would be a late-early gun, and anything above 936000 could be found with late...
