Given what you are asking, I would go with one of the CMP special grades. They put a new barrel and wood on the rifle and this is very close to what a "new" garand would be like, and you don't have...
So did he shoot the KA/PS head stamped Korean ammo or the K-54 head stamped ammo? K-54/K-53, is British ammo AFAIK and was never Korean. I have 500 rds of K-53 ammo that I bought from the CMP about...
So basically, if I read it right, it was defective barrel steel that caused this? Talk about hitting the wrong lottery. Glad he wasn't seriously injured.
Where is anyone paying .35 to .40 for once fired commercial 30-06 brass? I pick up once fired range brass all the time, more so during the deer rifle season when everyone is sighting in. I'll sell...
Spend 35 bucks on a adjustable gas plug, vent the excess (if there is any) pressure, and shoot the ammo. Won't bend an op rod if you vent the excess.
Figure about 50 cents each for the carbine brass and 20 cents each for the 30-06 brass, depending on headstamp. No way would I ever pay 300/1000 for 30-06 brass. Not when the CMP is selling loaded...
My garands like IMR 4064 better then any other powder I have tried. I just got done working up loads with 168 noslers and 155 noslers with CCI primers. My rifle likes the 168's better then the...
I just use 165 gr data since the bullet is so much longer. A longer bullet can a an effect on pressure so that's why I chose a 165 gr load to work from. I can't remember if I ever chrono'ed my...
Maybe but they get all the fresh blanks they need for shipping so they might not be insterested in 40 year old blanks when they can shoot ones made 2-3 years ago.
you would be better off learning to reload. beside having a barrel twist to maximize the bullet weight, i can't see how you would tune the rifle to the ammo besides normaly proven accuracy tips.
Not really. It is my understanding that if the round can be used in a handgun, then it is illegal according to federal law. That basically makes just about every rifle round illegal since contender...
I have a garand that I have owned since I started collecting and shooting. It was a CMP service grade and I have shot it alot. I didn't have gages when I first ordered it but since it was service...
Not sure why any of the posts are having a hard time getting blanks as LC (IIRC) was making them at least a few years ago. Have they spoken with the CMP? I know I got blanks for several posts for...
RCBS 30 Carbine Carbide 3 Die Set - Natchez Shooters Supplies
This is the best price I could find on line for RCBS 30 carbine carbide die sets. I use almost nothing but RCBS and have had zero...
thanks, Just spent some time with the stock and some mineral spirits and Tung Oil. First coat is drying but the stock looks much better then when recieved. When I got the stock, it looked as if the...
A univeral carbine at a local gun shop just sold for 500 dollars. That was with one 15 rd mag and standard stock.
No problem. Just wondering if there was something I wasn't aware of. Anyone have any idea when this carbine was made? I couldn't find any markings on the barrel to indicate when the barrel was...
Why shouldn't I take down the trigger housing or bolt? This isn't my first carbine. I actually sold a universal and used the proceeds to get the inland. I kind of wanted a USGI one. Carbines...
The cartouche is NFM over FJA. The FJA is very clear, the NFM isn't and I believe that is the letters it says.
I just recieved my new (to me) inland carbine from the CMP. Rack grade, 6digit serial number.
I'm a garand guy and don't know alot about carbines. The stock is rather beat up with FAJ cartouche...
I would go with a slower powder out of that bolt and take advantage of the case capacity of the 30-06 round. I like 4064 powder for my 165 loads out of my garands.
Why are they a gimmick?
So you are guessing. That's what I thought. I agree with JBS. You have little to contribute and speak with authority about something you know little about. You have no idea what this barrel will...
Although my stock does have some movement, I just checked my barrel and the TE is over an "8" on the stone ax gage. The gage only goes up to 8. This rifle used to shoot well with this stock, even...
