They could be .310-.311, but it really is not a guarantee; some difference in bore diameters has been seen in the past, and one never knows for sure without slugging the bore.
Hello guys,
Just reading the post here and associated replys. I thought I heard Hornady made 7.7 brass, as jmoore mentions, but have not found any for sale anywhere. Does anyone know where...
To copy the M118LR load you can use 173gr. BT bullets, but the 175gr. Sierra MK is regarded as a much better bullet. I have worked up loads like you are interested in. The loads were chronographed...
I have loaded and chronographed loads with the 175 SMK using IMR 4895 and IMR 4064. IMR 4064 gave a little more muzzle velocity out of my rifle, but both powders are great choices.
I compared...
Greetings,
I have a Jap Type 99 short rifle that has a lot of surface rust on the exterior. To clean it up, I need to remove the front sight. The front sight is held on the barrel by a roll...
I agree with farmrich and alonzo. The use of a chronograph will give you so much more information to use in your selection process as far as what the muzzle velocity is running and what the standard...
Although I don't have any experience with the clips in question, I have a friend who has sucessfully used 8MM Mauser stripper clips in his '03 Springfield with no problems at all.
Thanks for the replys everyone!
About two weeks ago I worked up some loads with the 4320 and 168 SMK's to chronograph. This was with HXP brass and Win. LR primers. The results, in the end,...
Great photo... it looks like the man in the foreground is firing; If you look at the back of the soldier behind the M60 gunner it looks like a spent case was caught in mid air by the photographer.
If you plan on running your loads over a chronograph, it would be a good idea to do it using military cases. Since military cases are generally thicker (as previously stated by the other members),...
Thanks for your reply Alfred. I've used 4320 in .243 w/ 100gr. soft points, and it actually produced the best handloads I've been able to turn out for that caliber. The results were very good, and...
I have a couple pounds of IMR 4320 on hand, and am thinking about working up some loads with 168 SMK's for my Springfield. Has anyone tried any of this powder, and what kind of results have you had?...
Looks like a nice M1903 with the pictures you attached. The low number Rock Island rifles can be safe to fire, but caution is usually the rule of the day. It has never been fully established that...
Jim,
That is sure some accurate precision rifle fire... How about the fire the 2nd Marines employed during the advance across the wheat field; 750 yards with the battle sight. Also...
Good site here... Looking forward to reading and posting along in bolt action, reloading forums, etc.
