Thanks Bob, I will ask my brother to get the article.
Thanks for this info. I will look at the rifles and bear this in mind. Did you just replace the spring with a new one or look one with more or less force?
I'll also check cleanliness and clean...
Thanks Bob, can I access the article on the web even tho I'm not a member of GCA? I've done some google research after reding this and sure don't want anything like this to happen to me. So I'd ;like...
My brother is commander of Legion post and said they have trouble firing 3 rounds each in 21 gun salute with blanks. Rounds do not feed smoothly into the chamber. Is there a adjustment that can be...
What has to be done to fire blanks in the Garand, 3 rounds for 21 gun salute? Is there a recommended source of blank rounds?
Thanks guys, I appreciate the ideas and when I see this guy at tomorrows club meeting I'll pass them on.
A friend at the gun club has a stock that he says has developed mold or mildew because the storage area got damp. He asked me how to get it off and my first thought is wipe it with a bleach solution,...
I'd like to hear more about this University Battalion stuff, if anyone has info. Bought this 1891 Argentine in 1963. Haven't done anything with it except buy some mil ammo in clips, boxes of Norma...

Thanks to you all. The lands are visible - it is the grooves that still are foul. I will try the soap and water that Calif-steve suggests, while looking up the electrolytic cleaning, thank you...

I work on many gun stocks. I suggest you either rub off BLO and apply stain to the wood or reapply with BLO to which you add some stain. Or add many more coats of BLO with stain in it to darken FE....

Thanks Guys,
'preciate the thoughts. I know Griffin & Howe websight and have seen their instruction sheet. I wanted to see what the Military Manuals said in case it adds some clarity to the...
Does anyone have an old manual that describes how to mount the original scope sidemount that had been made by Griffin and Howe? I'd like to see the directions.
In our shop I would remove the metal. Test if there is any way to flex the crack, perhaps pushing down on it or pushing the sides out. It's better if you can flex it, but I suspect pushing down is...
Thanks Rich, I'll check the pin strike on my next round

When I close my martini action, the breech block barely covers the rim of the top of the cartridge, it doesn't rise up to the top of the barrel rim. Is that normal? or is the camming action not...
Howe wrote a very compehensive book on gunsmithing including the bluing processes. You might try looking there. I believe he made his own formulations but I'd start with commercial chemicals. You...
we put cracked parts in lacquer thinner instead of water. You can also use acetone but your airflow had better be stronger. before gluing, it helps to heat the cracked area by putting a light bulb...
