Only Finnish rifles and ammo use 308 bullets and then not all of them. The others take .311" bullets. The American die and ammo companies went to 308 bullets to be "safer" in case of a Finnish rifle...
For 303 British the Lee die set that includes both the full length sizing die and the collet neck sizing die is the best for the 303. This is because the rifle chambers are made oversized on purpose...
Beretta BM-59 trigger housings are Garand trigger housings converting to take magazines and they work well with the M-14 magazine conversions. They can usually be found for not too much money.
I normally load 195 to 200 grain bullets. Sometimes heavier and lighter bullets too though. I don't think I know the 218 grain bullets but I would think 220 grain bullet load data should be good.
This was his email but people say he hasn't replied to it in a long while.

I thought that number might be old as it's a 703 number and I think that was in Quantico. You never know these days though about phone numbers. The last I heard he is in Mechanicsville VA.
I believe Gus Fisher is still in Mechanicsville Virginia near Richmond. I haven't been to a gun show in over a year but I usually see him at the gun shows in Virginia with a table.

I don't know of any bad lots of Israeli "TZ" 30 carbine ammunition. The ones I've had were good as were 9x19 and 45 ACP. I think only certain years or lots of 7.62x51 are bad. They did manage to...
There were "fast" lots and "slow" lots of WC-852. The fast lots were certified for 30-06 and it was sold as surplus powder by Hodgdion years ago as the original H-380 but was closer to current H-414....
I wonder if it's loaded with Korean War era ball powder WC-852 that would cause damage to Garand barrels by expanding the barrels in the chamber shoulder and neck area. This barrel damage is called...

The original WWI 30-06 ammunition was a 150 grain bullet at 2700 fps. Most of the commercial (and some military) FMJ open base/hollow base bullets aren't very accurate. Just skipping those and using...
The Federal ammunition looks to have been announced in Jan 2009 but nobody has seen any yet. You might get an adjustable gas valve for your Garand. This would allow adjusting the gas system but...
Most Gew 88's have larger .321" - .323" bores. The most common use for .318" bullets these days are for the even milder 8x57R/360 and sometimes the hotter loaded 8x57R in double barrel and single...
Federal recommends against using their commercial American Eagle and Gold Metal ammunition in the Garand. CMP did contract Federal to load Garand spec ammo and Federal labeled it "American Eagle" and...
