Surplus 8x56r question
Hi, I picked up a Steyr m95 a few weeks back and the guy threw in 137 rounds of surplus ammo for it. Most of which is in the original boxes. Most of these have a copper cased bullet but a handful of them have like a nickel jacket or something like that. I was just curious what the difference was or what this means.

Interesting cartridge, I am a big fan of the straight pull action and a wannabe owner of an M95. The link below from Buymilsurp.com has two types of ammo similar to what you are describing. I seriously doubt there is any significant advantage or difference in performance or barrel fouling of one jacket type over the other, the other varying factors in cartridge composition probably making more difference.
