    Windows 8

Well last night the charging cord on my Panasonic Toughbook went TU so today I went and bought a Toshiba Ultrabook.

Must say I literally hate Windows 8, in the mind of the geniuses that developed the program they made it simple, well simple in their minds..everything is hidden and jumping from XP to 8 is a nightmare.

    Life was simpler yesterday.....

Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

So use your new computer to find a part for your old one.

Valid point however the old one was getting tired and really served well. Funny is the power cord for the Toshiba works on the old Panasonic which seems a little strange.

It was time for new however wish it had a different version of Windows and I got a smoking deal.

Seeing as we have to option but using W8 it is rather frustrating. I am going to visit my computer guru on Monday to have him transfer all the info/programs from my old Panasonic and when I called him he didn't sound too excited.

I am sure it has some great features just unable to see a single one. The Toshiba is a beaut and no hard drive so really fast at searching and being the Ultrabook super thin and light which I really enjoy. The program is billed as simple, now I have a simple mind and can't agree....

Like so much in life nowadays we are told what we have to use but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

FWIW, if I were forced to buy a new system and the only OS offered was Win8, I would also buy a Win7 license & DVD and wipe/replace the Win8.

I have not yet tried Win8, but I have read that the MS Einsteins designed it for Touch Screens, among other things. I have also read that MS has bowed to pressure and will be offering a free Service Pack(?) Mod that will allow you to lose many of the most annoying new "features".

BTW, now is the time for a Linux-Head to pop up and rage on MS.

Actually, I would setup a dual-boot for Win7 & Ubuntu Linux, just like I now run 3 of my systems. IMO, Ubuntu is not quite ready for Prime Time ... but it is getting verrrrry close.

I use Windows 7 on my MacBook Pro (Apple) and start up using BootCamp to run it in native Intel mode where I need to use Windows applications. I like Windows 7 and it works for me when needed, but I've looked at Windows 8 and it's not as good, in my opinion ..

For my needs, I will stay with Windows 7 ...

    Regards,
    Doug

After using it for a couple of days I still think it is a PITA however like being continually hit in the head with a hammer, after awhile it doesn't hurt quite as much.

Some quirks that are strange ie the Internet Explorericon sometime won't work (read that one is to be for the touch screen) yet Inernet Explorer will work if you access it thru your desktop icon????? This makes no sense at all but it is reality.

Would be smart if Microsoft did something to improve the system and I guess only time will tell if they care, have my doubts.

The Ultrabook itself is amazing, light years faster than the old girl and that reduces the pain.
