    Looks like US M1855 or 1873 Springfield bayonet, differed on the muzzle size.

    It looks like a Model 1840/42 bayonet. What’s the inside diameter of the socket?

    Yes, a M1840/42 bayonet.

    Thanks for the help everyone. I will put a mic to the inside of the socket tomorrow and post pictures. I have another that is similar, but is not stamped US.

    It appears the bayonet lug would have to be on the bottom of the barrel, so 'fixed' bayonet blade would be on rightside of barrel. Also, bayonet is missing its locking-ring.
