Early No. 4 Mk.I Trials scope brackets

It seemed like a nearly impossible task to find original No. 4 Trials rifles that had been converted to T rifles which still have their original brackets. I had wondered if the brackets for those rifles were made in a different fashion (after all they were trials!) like perfectly polished, or wore a special finish. Possibly someone can answer this, hopefully with pictures?

IIRC (It's been a long time!) they were oil blacked.

The son of the owner of Charnwood Ordnance used to have a fully matching Trials rig. I'll try to contact him & see if he can remember the bracket finish.

The bracket on my Trials T, which I'm as sure as I can be, is original, is of the Rose Brothers type design, smooth with light filing/finishing marks. No number or letter stamps anywhere has a brownish gray patina. It may have had oil blacked finish once but it's been around the block a few times so the original finish, if it had one, may well be long gone.

Hi Charlie. Nice looking scope & bracket, but I'm curious about it being a Thamesbank bracket. I've never knowingly seen one that I could be sure of, although I have a couple of 'unkown' but old brackets that I inherited indirectly from official sources via Charnwood, years ago, that I suppose possibly could be (they could also be old attempts at repro's). Your bracket looks like a Rose Brothers to me, but if it is a Thamesbank it would make your 4T rig very rare indeed. I'm speaking from memory now, so it could be faulty, but most if not all of the few truly matching Trials 4T's I can remember seeing had Rose Brothers brackets on them.
