Commander in Chief now afraid of his own Naval officers?

This just about takes the cake. The midshipmen have always worn their dress swords for graduation.

Just when we think these fools can't sink any lower, they sink even lower.

    Disgusting!

    SWORDLESS SAILORS

Graduating midshipmen of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis are being told in writing to leave at home or in their vehicles all "ceremonial swords" and anything else "that might be considered a weapon or a threat by screeners" for Friday's outdoor commencement ceremonies featuring an address by President Barack Obama.

Inside the Beltway has obtained the academy's list of prohibited items for this year's graduation exercises, which, besides ceremonial swords, includes umbrellas.

Yes, cell phones and texting are still allowed.

That is so idiotic. He must be the most nervous person on the planet, but that is who the liberal idiots wanted in office. Just goes to show how insecure your (not mine) president can be. Not meaning anyone on this forum.

Aren't these rules made up by the secret service, not the Pres. staff? Now they are probably really afraid for the Pres.'s life!

I was thinking the same thing, unfortunately it seems to be the inmates running the asylum.

What next ? Disarm his body guards.

Never the less it's a sad thing when a man cannot walk among his fellow countrymen without fear. A man, any man in my opinion should have some basic rights no matter what his position. Freedom from harm would seem one of the most basic rights.

    Ken,
One recurring trait of absolutists is that they trust no one. History shows that the various Czars, Fuehrers, Il Duces, Chairmen and Commissars maintained extraordinary controls to ensure their security. They assumed that many of the public despised them as much they despised the public. And history shows that control freaks tend to be paranoid, nor they do not "get better" over time; they get worse.

To ban the midshipmen's wearing of swords is a slap in the face of the Naval Academy, an insult to every midshipman, and an ignorant dishonoring of tradition. It is akin to the Queen banning her yeomen from carrying pikes in her presence. Outrageous and pitiful, but probably more driven by wild mistrust.

    Regards,

    Louis of PA

    6 months has passed?

So where is that "incident" that Hair Plug Joe warned us about, the one where the American public would be in an uproar at the response but it time would realize that "it was justified." I ain't getting any younger, and I hate waiting.

    This is unbeliveable!
So I can't spell, so what!!!
