MG Fire Simulator? Seen on eBay UK

I haven't seen one of these before, what the vendor is claiming to be a MG fire simulator.

I would have thought that another possibility for this item might be a variation of the gas warning rattle.

    Any thoughts?

Not a gas warning rattle. The gas warning rattle handle could be held in one hand while the rattle spun around it as seen on P. 384 of David Gordon's excellent "Equipment of the WWII Tommy".

Yep, it's a 'Simulator, MG' There were a few different variations. Not quite as effective as the real thing I've been assured.....
