    Front Sight Protective Block

A short while back someone was selling a milled aluminum block to seat the front sight in while tapping out the pin. It protected the front sight ears and looked pretty neat but I didn't buy one at the time and now can't find the source. Does anyone have any good/bad experience with this tool and can anyone advise where you can buy one now? I've bent too many 'ears'. Thanks

I just use a block of soft pine with a hole drilled into it for the pin to fall into. That has worked well for me for 30 years plus.....

I bouight this item from Steve Rice for around $31.00 on GunBroker. It is a well-made piece, correctly sized and marked on one end for the Type 1 milled sight, and on the other end for the slightly larger stamped Type 2 sight. It is also sized such that the hole for driving out the sight pin is correctly lined up for your punch. It is definitely the right tool for the job!

Right after my above post and it works great. Thanks, Steve. Worth every penny and I wish I had found one years ago.
