This is on initial takedown of recently-received SG HRA. Overall a reasonable example of a SG, but the Greeks did give it the dunk in that tank of black stuff--I think it is some kind of blueing. Result is that the clip latch pin is pretty much fused along the 2 7/8" where it travels through the clip latch. Bent a couple of small punches trying to drift it out.
Any ideas for this? The spring action (in all of its black Greek glory) still seems robust enough to give good function, but there will come a day when it needs to be serviced. On that day I am thinking it will be necessary to drill or mill the clip latch out in pieces, pin and all, and then start over with a new latch and pin. So probably the thing to do is get a latch and pin on hand now. But this has to be a somewhat common problem so I'd love to hear how others have solved it. Thanks.Information
