I just found the funnest Lee Enfield video

Lee Emery with a springfield, and a pom with a No1 MK3, in a race to break 20 plates, complete with slo mo enough to see the bullets in flight, I loaded it onto the front page of enfield resource, just scroll down to the lower half, good fun, even if Emery had to end up cheating.

Haven't had a fresh look, but if it's the vid I watched a while back, the operator with the No1 needs some basic instruction... so unco he couldn't beat time with a stick!

Agree. That was pathetic. Takes the rifle off his shoulder to reload, actually lets go of the bolt knob at one point and flips it back and then grasps it again.

I think it was 1886 the Frenchicon started with smokeless powder.

Well before the yanks copied the 30-06 from the Germanicon 8X57 round,
and OH yes the springfield was also a COPY of the Paul Mauser rifle
that knocked the stuffing out of the yanks in a little fight with I think it was the Spanish.
I read that the yanks lost a court battle over paying the compensation to Paul Mauser for copying the pattern, and still did not pay up using, I think, the excuse the Germans started WW1.

It would be worth it just to see Ermey pee himself...

OK, not exactly a constructive comment, but I bet I'm not the only one...

Not sure about Ermey's comment in regards to the 30/06 being the first smokeless round, i am very sure it was the Frenchicon with their "Poudre B" in the Lebel round that came first.

Not only was the 8mm Lebel the first ctg adopted by a nation to use smokless powder (1886) it was the first to use a boat tail bullet in 1898.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

Funny though, that they didn't show the final results - as they walked away you could just glimpse the remaining plates and the enfield was only 2 or 3 behind.
