Question about mainspring housings

I see many 1911/1911A1 clones being sold with flat mainspring housings. I thought the addition of the arched mainspring housing was an improvement. So why so many being sold with flat ones? --TIA

its a retro thinking thing in some cases , its a personal shooting preference in others , and then there are those that shoot wild bunch in SASS - they have to stay in period ,

im fond of both but prefer the straight 1911 grip in my carry pistol and shooting pistols ,

I too prefer the flat but with checkering. The arched is just a bit too big for my liking.
