    Combo Tool Case Extractor?

In reading from the book US Infantry Weapons in Combat, Personal Experiences from WWII and Korea on page 85 there is mentioned the combo tool case extractor. Sergeant Jack Walentine states he used it to remove a stuck chambered case that the rim had been rip off.

Please explain how to use the combo tool to do this.

The combo tool has a round portion or half crecent at one end. Look and you'll see it. Garandicon fore saw the instance of damaged rounds and made a tool for this. It just goes down below the case and hooks on the bottom of the rim. I'm not sure the M3A1 has this feature but the M3 does. Someone else will jump in with a pic shortly, I'm sure.

I only had a case problem once. The entire head came off, like someone used a tube cutter on it. I used a .45 caliber brush on a short rod, pushed it in the case, pulled it out easily. I would think the chamber brush on the M3A1 would work just as well. Brass doesn't adhere all that well to steel, specially with a case with a slight taper. That said, I also would like to see how the M10 actually works. Just a guess, but maybe the end works the case loose, and you can then shake it out of the chamber. Pics would certainly help.

    Does the M10 work, though?

Not for that job. Just a handle/bolt stripping tool/screw driver.
