Hello and Greetings from Missouri!
I'm very new to forums and like all new recruits I'm sure I'll fall in front of everyone. I'll try and make it look good however. I had some help from painter777 and he has started me on the right path. Thanks Charlie!
First, I'm looking at a M1Carbine. However I cannot get any pictures as per their store policy. That part I understood. If I can get a few questions answered than I think I have found my first carbine.
The barrel has Inland div. and 2-43 stamped on it. However I couldn't see under the rear site but when I ask the dealer he thought it was underwood. I will make sure on this for sure. I would think it's also in his books with the serial number for the receiver. The serial number started with a 4XXXXXX. Sorry but I didn't write it down but I will be back in first thing Monday morning when they open.
Can this be possible as a mixed matched with a Underwood receiver and an Inland barrel with the info I have provided?
The other thing is it looked liked a J.A.O on the front barrel band. I do believe I'm right there for such a quick look. Could that be right also?
It also had I think a Type III rear site. (could have been Type II but just don't think so) The lighting was really bad in there, so I'm taking two powerful flashlights and magnifying glass when I return. I will read all weekend to get more book time in, but it seems Underwood loaned out more parts to Inland than the other way around, Is that correct? I believe I read that a week ago.
Thanks in advance for all the replies and what a great SITE to be a part of people.
I really got the fever bad on these things.
Sincerely,
MicInformation
