If you post some high resolution photos of all makings and the total rifle and scope then people will probably give you a pretty good indication.

    Deer Hunter,
I am sure there will be some interest at the right price.
If you could put up the numbers on the action showing the S and the Pinned scope side with the serial numbers on the scope and the bracket, wrist and the S51 I am sure that would suffice. Is it a Maltby?

A letter and number will be evident on the wrist with the serial number beside it. Let us know what it says and we'll give you the answer in the absence of any photos!

The markings will tell you. Left side of the butt socket, if it has M47C stamped above the serial number, it was made at BSA Shirley, as most last war 4T's were. If its not M47C marked, its likely a Maltby made, unless it happens to be a Canadianicon 4T of course, or an early trials conversion.

As said, get some detailed photos posted or email to someone that can post them for you.

Manufacturer's mark or name will be either on the left hand side of the butt socket or on the left hand side of the action around the mounts for the scope.

Typical 'names' to look for would be

    F (or ROF F)
    M47C
    M (or ROF M)
or a Serial number containing an L or a C (similar to 25C12345, or 10L3456)

    My M47c (BSA) No4T

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

  9. Thank You to Alan de Enfield For This Useful Post:

As said, post some detailed photo's, but if you've owned it 25 years, it's most likely real anyway, as 25 years ago there was no real need or demand to repro them, as nice ones could be had for relatively little money!
Different world a quarter of a century later!
If matching numbers, and original scope to rifle match, and with Transit chest and internal items, then it's been a good investment on what you paid for it 25 years ago.

Yes, let us have a few photo's with reference to the body side wall, butt socket, & a view showing the body pads with the scope OFF as well as on. You'll then be up to your neck in useful information!
