No9 Bayonet for Lee Enfield Rifle

Hello folks,
I have the above bayonet that fits fine on my LE MK1/2 rifle.
I've tried to find out more about it but have hit a brick wall.
I'm guessing it's dodgy copy made in Afghanistan or similar?
The casting is very rough & the only marks I can find is a number (1309560)...no proof marks, no broad arrow etc.
Did the Afghans turn out copies of bayonets...like they did with rifles etc?
Any info would be great..

It certainly looks like a 13C.... Savage serial number to me.

I bet if you scraped that lumpy paint off you'd find some markings beneath.

And, the rifle it was fitted to is only a few days production away from my Savage No4 Mk1*

I'm no bayonet expert but it looks real enough to me. The 'rough' surface may simply be because it was originally painted, which has extensively chipped off, & has then been over painted without fully removing the remaining bits of the original coat. I think the number may actually be 13C9560, which would be the serial number of the circa 1942 Savage produced rifle it was intended to fit.

I agree that it's good. Yes, the rough surface is Suncorite paint left over from it's last overhaul. Looks good.

Thanks for all the info. The bayonet originally cost me around £20 some 7 or 8 years ago.
I may try cleaning some of that paint off to see what's underneath..
