FOR SALE - LEE-ENFIELD MAGAZINES FOR EARLY SMLE RIFLES

Type 1 and Type 2 SMLE rifle magazines were designed for the round-nosed Mark 6 round. Starting around 1910 there was a gradual transition to the new pointed-nose Mark 7 round. The new round did not feed reliably in either the Type 1 or Type 2 SMLE magazines.

Type 3 SMLE rifle magazines are Type 1 and Type 2 magazines that have been remanufactured to work with the Mark 7 round. A portion of the left front case was cut away and a spring lip was riveted in place. In addition, there is a movable “stop clip” on the right side of the case. The spine of Type 3 magazine cases are stamped “3”. The magazine platform (follower) is marked “2”.

All of the SMLE magazines below are Type 3, clean, functional, and in good condition. Marking are typically found on the case spine and are very small; you may need your phone magnifier to see the details clearly.
