I'm new here, and love it. Mainly, I collect old stuff. Among other things, I have a complete collection of all the US Army main battle rifles ever issued using cartridges and all their accessories.
My wife and I were watching a show on the history channel on this and she commented that of all the rifles and such I had ....I didn't have an early m16.
I never really thought about it before. I do have a class 3 M16a2 to cover my m16 niche, but I didn't have one like the one I carried in '71 (101st Abn).
At this stage in my life I didn't want another NFA rifle, so I did the next best thing and built this AR.
The only thing about this rifle that's 'modern' is the lower receiver and trigger group...all the other parts are vintage M16A1. The barrel is a Colt stamped chrome lined unissued A1 military barrel, the other parts are old Colt military. The sling is vintage Nam as are the magazines(Colt) and bayonet, they are actually my original issued items.
The helmet is my fathers WW2 original issued item it served him during the liberation of the Philippines.
I'm a Colt trained Leo armorer.
The rifle shoots dead center from a bench rest at 100 yards!
