Hi, everyone. A friend has a nice M1icon Garand which he was shooting from a bench this weekend. With a full 8-round en-bloc clip, he fired the 1st round, but the bolt shortstroked (bolt did not cycle back far enough to pick up the next round in the clip & push it forward into the chamber). The rifle fired the remaining rounds properly. The problem seems to occur only with the first round. This occured several times. His rifle is in excellent condition, and is clean. Any ideas as to the cause, and its cure? Thanks much.

Jim
