1903 checkering

Found this in a small auction, listed as a sporterized springfield .Nice untapped receiver.
To the best of my knowledge checkering was not a factory option.?
It looks like a home grown job on the stock checkering and a bubba on the recoil pad. What is the correct length on a sporter stock? Hope it is not cut.
Does the bolt serial location and style look Bubba too?
Had to go for it. It just yelled buy me , Now the only question is where to hide it to avoid a discussion.

any thoughts on the checkering, bolt serial, would be helpful in finalizing my description for the item ?
