A big advantage that weird Swissicon design has comes apparent when your using it in the field (particularly in the winter). It is easier to put use it with gloves than a standard stripper clip, and if you accidentally drop it in the snow (which happens as we all fumble especially with gloves on) you don't have to worry about getting the rounds covered in snow. I have also never managed to lose a charger worth, a couple times I lost a round by accidentally pushing on it (which my chargers are old and worn), however I have also lost many a round off a 5rd Mauser stripper clip (and even unissued surplus ammo on the stripper clips it is not uncommon for a round to have fallen off the clip in the box).
