Just had to buy an AK again!

Well, I still work part time at a local gun shop in Nor-Cal, so my long gun armory has been restored. (Ruger Ranch and Mini-30, M1icon Carbine, two AR15s, 870 tactical). Went into work a coup[le weeks ago and we had a NIB Riley Defense RAK-47C CA compliant. that came in the afternoon before and had not been put out yet. I bought it on the spot. I got it for close to his cost, and I'll have it paid off on work credit by the time my 10 jail is over....

I still have mags, pouches, and sling, from my last AK, and as I have a Mini-30, I have a couple plenty of ammo (I also reload 7.62x39). Also, I still have my Phoenix palm swell grip that I will replace the shark fin with.

I know it is not a Krebs, etc. and I know they had issues when they first came out, but the reviews in the last year have said it is really good for the money. BTW, they now use only forged trunnions, carriers, and bolts. I guess in the beginning they tried using cast parts like Ruger. Anyway, it is 100% American made, it looks good, and fit and finish is perfect, with no canting of the sight of FSB.

Anyway, I'm 69, and figure it will last longer than me....besides, I just work it off, with no money out of pocket! I have had a lot of AKs since my first, a Poly-Tech "Spiker" I got in 1986. This one actually seems as nice as most.

It will go nice with my Mini-30

While I am not a true AK "Fan Boy", I do respect it as a weapons system. I had a WASR around 2007 that I took the top cover off, threw a handful of dirt in, and blasted a magazine with no FTFs. I also threw it with a loaded mag in a muddy bottom creek, drained water, and blasted away. AKs will still be working when the end of the world comes!

Until recently, I had a tight firearms budget, and generally had to sell one to buy one (i.e. I sold the Hungarianicon AK to to buy my Mini-30). Working at the gun shop for store credit, I can once again accumulate multiples. Mu personal favorites to shoot are my M1 Carbine/Mini-14/Mini-30 type guns. They make great home/ranch defensive carbines. Though ARs and AKs are better warfighter weapons, I would not feel under-gunned with the M-1 Carbine or either Ruger.
